Photos!

Finally! I figured out how to do this! Enjoy!

El Tope. The procession of the saints Santiago (left) and San Marcos (right) to meet San Sebastian in Diriamba.

Fernando, Alison, Jamileth (mom), Me and Nery hanging out, watching Las Noticias.

Alison (3) riding a carnival ride in Diriamba during las fiestas patronales.

My room in Jinotepe. Complete with fan to keep the mosquitoes away!

La Catedral de Granada. Beautifully restored, it flanks the South (?) side of the parque central.

Jamileth (mom) and I in a horsedrawn carriage in Granada…on our way to the Lakefront!

Lago de Cocibolca. Otherwise known as Lake Nicaragua…complete with freshwater sharks! In the distance you can see the isletas, small islands that were once atop Volcan Mombacho!

Volcan Mombacho. It blew its top long, long ago to form the isletas, and is now covered in dense cloudforest. In the foreground you can see the beautiful ceramic tile roofs that are so typical of Granada and Central America in general.

Catedral y Convento de San Francisco. Originally built in 1523, it is supposedly the oldest cathedral in the Americas. Whether or not that is true, it has been beautifully restored after its destruction in th nineteenth century by the infamous William Walker.

I will post more pictures later!
